I took an existing sage smoke cleansing bundle, and made it extra magickal! Just call me the Magician!
I incorporated dried rosemary into the sage. The scent from these is beautiful. One of rosemary’s magickal properties is protection, which intertwines with the sage. Rosemary is also used to aid in psychic detoxes. Sage is a popular herb for cleansing, and I use it with the intention that it is removing all energy from my space. Palo Santo would keep the positive vibes. Sage boots everything out!
Light your sage smoke cleansing bundle, carefully (fire safety is always a concern!). Walk through your house wafting the smoke around your rooms. You may feel drawn to work round the four corners of your room, or you may just waft and walk. Verbal incantations can be used (a personal favourite is mine is “bad juju get to fuck”). Open the windows of each room as you cleanse it.
I like to work my way down to my front door. I sage the threshold and the doorframe, and then open the front door of my home, to let all of the remaining energy escape out into the universe and away from me!
I like to extinguish my sage by using it to draw a protective sigil on my doorstep. You can also use a dish with coarse sea salt (this could then become your witchy black salt, witchy tip for you there!).
You can waft yourself with the sage, to give yourself a spiritual cleanse. Sage can also be used to cleanse objects, like crystals, tarot cards, anything that needs cleansed!
You may note, I haven’t called the process of sage cleansing “smudging”. There is an argument over whether burning white sage is cultural appropriation. The process of smudging, however, is a sacred Native American ritual, so I feel that by calling it smudging, I am culturally appropriating. Read more about the Native American practice here.
FIRE SAFETY NOTE: ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOUR SAGE IS EXTINGUISHED PROPERLY!
